KNOW HOW DENGUE MOSQUITO VECTORS WILL BE MONITORED THROUGH NEW AETRAPP APP.
AeTrapp app aims to make life easier for many citizens who live in regions with high hates of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes – the responsibles for the transmission of Dengue, Zika, Chikungunya and Urban Yellow Fever virus. AeTrapp focuses on monitoring Aedes mosquito populations, guiding people on how to construct a simple and easy-to-create mosquito larvae trap, and allowing citizens to visualise on a map the nearest Aedes Aegypti infestation.
Fighting mosquitoes will be facilitated by AeTrapp, which will play the role of both instructing and monitoring, as the combat first starts on the construction of community created traps. Infestation rates are plotted on a real-time map directly on the screen of a smartphone. The first city in Brazil to test the application was Rio Branco, in Acre state, a partnership between Oswaldo Cruz Foundation – Fiocruz and World Wide Fund for Nature – WWF.
AeTrapp App is available to download in beta version in Google Play and AppStore, but only for pilot projects. When accessible to the broader public, it will allow users to register in the system, upload mosquito larvae trap pictures and visualise data generated by all traps from different locations. On an interactive map, users will be able to frame where Aedes mosquito infestations are occurring and thus assist in the most critical regions.
